Αρχιτέκτων Μηχανικός ΕΜΠ (1998). Κάτοχος Διδακτορικού Διπλώματος (Ε.Μ.Π. 2010). Μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στη Bartlett School of Architecture UCL (Master of Architecture, Λονδίνο 2000), και στο Royal College of Art (Master of Philosophy, Λονδίνο 2004). Διετέλεσε Λέκτορας και Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Αρχιτεκτονικού Σχεδιασμού στη Σχολή Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών του Πολυτεχνείου Κρήτης (2005-2020). Έχει διδάξει μαθήματα Αρχιτεκτονικού Σχεδιασμού, Ψηφιακών Τεχνολογιών στον Αρχιτεκτονικό Σχεδιασμό, Παραμετρικού Σχεδιασμού και πολλών προπτυχιακών και μεταπτυχιακών μαθημάτων επιλογής. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν τη μελέτη της αρχιτεκτονικής στο πλαίσιο του ψηφιακού πολιτισμού, τον παραμετρικό και ψηφιακό σχεδιασμό, τη σχέση του αστικού χώρου με τις ψηφιακές τεχνολογίες, και την εφαρμογή των κοινωνικών σπουδών της τεχνολογίας στην αρχιτεκτονική έρευνα. Συγγραφέας 4 βιβλίων – ενδεικτικά αναφέρεται το “Architecture and Adaptation: From Cybernetics to Tangible Computing” (New York: Routledge, 2016) και το “Architecture in Digital Culture: Machines, Networks and Computation” (New York: Routledge, 2022). Έχει δημοσιεύσει πλήθος άρθρων σε διεθνή και ελληνικά επιστημονικά περιοδικά και πρακτικά συνεδρίων (ενδεικτικά αναφέρονται τα περιοδικά Joehlo, Fusion, Footprint και τα συνέδρια eCAADe και ASCAAD). Μέλος επιστημονικών επιτροπών διεθνών συνεδρίων και επιτροπών αξιολόγησης σε διεθνή περιοδικά και ερευνητικά προγράμματα όπως: Architecture and Culture, Canadian Journal of Communication, Re-Bus, Hybrid City Symposium, Intelligent Environments, Fund for Scientific Research-FNRS (F.R.S.-FNRS), Research Development Fund (Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University). Οργανώνει και συμμετέχει σε ερευνητικά προγράμματα και εργαστήρια με αντικείμενο τον παραμετρικό σχεδιασμό, τα ψηφιακά εργαλεία για την οπτικοποίηση της αρχιτεκτονικής πληροφορίας και την κριτική χαρτογραφία όπως: «Επανασταστικά Παλίμψηστα» (Ελ.Ι.Δ.Ε.Κ 2019), “Elpidos Mapping” (2018), “Mapping Chania” (2017), “Upload object” (2016), “Digital Doxiadis” (2015), «Crete3D» (CYTA 2013-14), “Sens[e-Res]ponsive workshop” (2011). Έχει διακριθεί με τα βραβεία L’Architettura Automatica Prize στη Μπολόνια και Keppie Prize στο Λονδίνο. Συνεργάζεται με αρχιτεκτονικά γραφεία και εργάζεται ως ελεύθερος επαγγελματίας για τη μελέτη κατοικιών, οικιστικών συνόλων, κτηρίων κοινωνικής πρόνοιας, εμπορικών κέντρων και έργων τοπίου.

Socrates Yiannoudes
Associate Professor, Department of Interior Architecture UNIWA
He studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (Diploma of Architecture, 1998). He continued his studies in London where he obtained a Master of Architecture (Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, 1999-2000) and a Master of Philosophy (Royal College of Art, 2002-2004). In 2010 he earned his Doctorate Diploma (PhD) in architecture (National Technical University of Athens, 2010). Since 2005 he has taught architectural design, digital technologies, representation media, as well as several elective undergraduate and postgraduate modules at the School of Architecture, Technical University of Crete. His research interests focus on digital and parametric design, the study of architecture in the context of digital culture, digital technologies and urban space, and the application of science and technology studies in architectural research. Author of 4 books (“Architecture and Adaptation: From Cybernetics to Tangible Computing”, New York: Routledge, 2016 and “Architecture in Digital Culture: Machines, Networks and Computation”, New York: Routledge, 2022). He has published numerous articles in international and greek scientific journals and conference proceedings (e.g. Joehlo, Fusion, Footprint, eCAADe and ASCAAD). Member of scientific committees of international conferences and review committees in international journals and research programs such as: Architecture and Culture, Canadian Journal of Communication, Re-Bus, Hybrid City Symposium, Intelligent Environments, Fund for Scientific Research-FNRS (F.R.S.-FNRS), Research Development Fund (Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University). He organizes and participates in research projects and workshops on parametric design, digital tools for the visualization of architectural information and critical cartography such as: “Revolutionary Palimpsests” (H.F.R.I. 2019), “Mapping Chania” (2017), “Digital Doxiadis” (2015), “Crete3D” (CYTA 2013-14), “Sens[e-Res]ponsive workshop” (2011). He has been awarded the L’Architettura Automatica Prize in Bologna and the Keppie Prize in London. Since 2002 he has worked for the design and construction of private housing and residential development projects, leisure centers, shopping complexes and landscape design projects.
